About

The Virtual History Centre has been developed to provide an immersive learning environment for Victorian History Students. It was created in 2010-2011 by the History Teachers Association Victoria, in partnership with the State Library Victoria and the Public Records Office of Victoria. It was funded by the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Development’s FUSE Project.

The first ‘build’ to be created for the Virtual History Centre is an historical re-creation of the Point Nepean Quarantine Station.  Situated at the tip of the Mornington Peninsula at the entrance to Port Phillip Bay in real life, Point Nepean is the home to  historic, 19th-century landmarks including the quarantine station which was setup to control and prevent the spread of these diseases in the Colony of Victoria in 1852.
